The further into the 12 Days of Christmas we get, the more excited I am for Christmas! While shopping with friends last weekend we saw a digital Christmas countdown clock, counting down to the second. Kind of ironic since today I’m sharing my Christmas countdown clock. It’s manual, not digital, but a fun way to watch Christmas get closer.

Christmas Countdown Clock
I’m so excited to be working with Oriental Trading! In fact, I was so excited to get the opportunity, I didn’t even realize when I chose this wood plank sign to use that it was an oval and not round!
But, it worked out since I needed to fit 24 numbers plus Christmas on it in order to turn it into a Christmas countdown clock.
Dry brushing some white paint and then sanding it a bit after drying gave it the tone I was looking for.
My handwriting is actually pretty nice and I like painting… but, now that I have a new Cricut, I have to use it as much as possible!
I knew I wanted a snowflake in the middle, the numbers and the word Christmas. So I played around in the design space and made what I had in mind.
Unfortunately, I haven’t learned how to save and share what I make yet. I did find this Christmas countdown clock SVG file for only a few dollars that could be used to get a similar effect.
I’m not sure why that picture is so dark, what I noticed when I took it was that the snowflake was uncentered! I fixed it but forgot to take another one with better light.
A picture showing you where the hole I drilled in the center for the clock mechanism also didn’t happen. Man, this Cricut is awesome, but I’m so excited about it, I’m forgetting to take pictures along the way!
A faux clock hand would work for this since it isn’t going to be used to tell time. I happened to have a clock mechanism on hand from some other clocks I’ve made. Using only the second hand worked perfectly.
Overall, with the prefinished plank sign from Oriental Trading, the whole project took less than 30 minutes! Now I have more time to work on Christmas projects and countdown to Christmas morning.
