All my kids play lacrosse. IronFish even coaches O-Man’s team. So it’s not surprising that we have a lacrosse rebounder and lacrosse goal in our yard. Both we got from friends second hand. One day, O-Man came in and asked me if I could solder metal (um, yes… why?) The lacrosse goal had come to the end of its days. But, for once, I was thrilled when O hopped on You-Tube and found videos of DIY lacrosse goals!

PVC Pipes

Um, yeah, this goal has seen better days…When our lacrosse goal had seen better days, we made a new frame for the old net using PVC piping. It's easy and cost-effective way to make. www.domesticdeadline.com

IronFish and O-Man picked up lengths of PVC pipes and 90-degree elbows. Using PVC cement and the old goal as a template, they glued the pieces together.

To attach the net to the new pipes, they reused as many of the ties from the original net. When those ran out, zip ties proved to be perfect.

O-Man is 10, with a little guidance from dad, he was able to build the net himself.  That back elbow is a 45-degree, I believe.

Don’t mind my messy garage… and O-Man wants me to let you all know he did get a much-needed haircut! He hadn’t wanted me to share this because of his shaggy hair.

DIY Lacrosse Goal

Of course, he had to try it out right away! Because the PVC pipe is much lighter than the metal of the old goal, we used a few bricks in the back corner of the net to weigh it down. If there comes a time where we need to make another net, we’ll probably put sand or water into the pipes before gluing them together.

If you don’t have an existing lacrosse goal that has seen better days, this project could still be done using a replacement net.
