Ever find yourself trying to come up for a gift for a good friend who already has everything? Recently I found myself in just that situation. A dear friend was hitting a milestone birthday and a huge surprise party was planned for her. But, for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what to give her! I knew she had recently gotten into martinis and has a fun bar in her basement. After turning to Pinterest, I finally came up with making her an Emergency Cocktail Party kit! And, it happens to be a perfect project for this month’s Pinterest Challenge.
Inspiration
Pinterest didn’t lead me to many gift ideas for the martini aficionado. Aside from recipes and glasses, I was still at a loss. Then I stumbled upon a post for a “Bar in a Jar.” Suddenly, everything fell into place.
But, I didn’t want to just fill and decorate a cute jar with mini alcohol bottles. I wanted the recipient to be able to try different martinis and cocktails and hopefully find a new favorite… or several!
Supplies
I really thought I took several pictures with my good camera! But, when I sat down to write the post, I realized I must not have!!! All I have are the pictures I took on my phone to send to another friend.
Oops…
Or maybe I was trying the cocktails out myself…
I hit up the local liquor store and selected several mini bottles of alcohol. Mostly flavored vodkas. The guy behind the counter was so intrigued by my idea he was checking the cases at all the registers so I had lots of options.
Once I had the alcohol, I pulled out my trusty Bartender’s Black Book (ouch, my edition is from my college years!) and decided what mixers I needed to buy.
Alcohol, mixers, giant beverage tub, cellophane, ribbon, cocktail napkins, straws and jar of maraschino cherries and it’s time to assemble!
Individual Emergency Cocktails
Each drink is wrapped in cellophane, tied with ribbon and recipe attached.
I kept everything white, black and silver aside from the ingredients. All the wrapped drinks were then displayed in a drink tub.
Cocktail napkins, paper straws, drink umbrellas, and maraschino cherries are tucked in between the drinks.
Originally I wanted to put each drink in its own glass and wrap it up. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find what I needed locally and I was out of time for ordering something.
Emergency Cocktail – Just Add Ice
Shhh… don’t tell! I’m already planning on taking the emergency cocktail gift in a different direction for a few of my girlfriends this holiday season.
Using insulated tumblers with lid and straw, each gal will get a personalized cup with all the ingredients tucked inside!
Yes, I’m a little excited to use my new Cricut for Christmas gifts this year!
