Boxes seem to arrive daily at my house, I can’t imagine why! Oh, probably because I’ve done almost all of my shopping for Christmas online. Since only a few of them have arrived in the fun Grinch boxes, I guess I have to open them up and wrap the gifts inside. Gift wrapping is not something I pride myself in. Occasionally, when I have the time, I can do a really nice job. The problem is, I don’t often have the time! It’s something I always put off until the last minute. But, I have a few small things I used toilet paper tubes to wrap. Yup, here’s my DIY gift wrapping from toilet paper tubes!

It’s Day 9 and we are sharing Pretty Gift Wrapping Ideas!
DIY Gift Wrapping
First things you’ll need is a small gift and an empty toilet paper tube. If you can’t find some of these around in your house, well, I’m not really sure what to say to that… I haven’t met anyone yet that doesn’t use toilet paper…
Jane recently had these darling personalizable necklaces. If you aren’t familiar with Jane, they are one of my places to find unique boutique style gifts.
Flatten the toilet paper tube and cut a piece of paper long enough to wrap around the flattened tube plus about a half inch for overlap. My tube was about 4 inches from end to end (because apparently, they are not a standard size, I had a few different sizes!) and 3 inches wide. I cut my paper to be 2 inches wide and 6.5″ long.
I used my handy tape runner to adhere my paper to the tube.
Simply push both sides of each end into itself to close it up. I did this and then opened one end to put my gift inside. To keep it closed, tie a ribbon or piece of twine around the gift.
More Toilet Paper Tubes
But, there’s more! Because I found at least 40 toilet paper tubes in my craft room. We saved them last year for my son to make fire starters. They were a great gift for him to make and give to my husband.
Staple one end flat.
Cover the staples with a strip of paper using a tape runner. Washi tape would also work great here… but I must admit, I’ve been trying to avoid collecting it.
Because, well, I have so many craft supplies already!
For the other end, flatten it in the opposite direction. Use a mini hole punch (which I couldn’t find) or a large needle to thread ribbon, string, or twine through. Depending on the size of the gift, you may need to put it into the tube before tying it closed.
Pretty Presents
I love the way they turned out!
And, I’ll happily say, “yes, yes I did wrap your gift in a toilet paper tube!”
Ooohhh, shameless plug here too… Because, toilet paper goes with toilet humor, right? My sisters and cousin (and a tiny smidge of help from me, lol) have created a new card game now available on Amazon.
It’s called Crappy Hand, fun for all ages… especially if you’re the person who complains about getting a “crappy hand” in every other card game!
